Halotherapy or dry salt therapy is an ancient natural therapy using a halogenerator to crush pharmaceutical grade sodium chloride (salt) into micro particles that are dispersed into a salt room by way of a dry salt aerosol to treat a variety of conditions and ideal for all clients.

Salt is anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and anti-viral. The salt room will be filled with microscopic salt, which creates a virtually sterile environment. In addition, after a session, most State-of-the-Art Halogenerators vent the out the air.

The microclimate is 3 times cleaner in the Halotherapy room than in a sterile surgery room in a hospital, therefore, it is almost impossible to catch an infection during the session. A stable hypoallergenic, hypo bacterial environment is maintained in the therapeutic room.

Side effects are very minimal and transient.

You may experience a slight tickle in your throat or sinuses and some sinus drainage as the mucus breaks up – this will pass.

You may experience some minor skin irritation, skin tingling / itching as circulation is brought to the surface.

For those of you experiencing a slight cough, this is a sign that the salt therapy is effectively moving the impurities through the cilia. ​Some patients with hypersensitive skin may experience mild skin irritation.

A Halogenerator is a device that is used to grind medical grade salt particles upto 5 microns in size that can penetrate deep into the respiratory system and skin.

The difference between ‘dry’ (Halotherapy) and ‘wet’ salt (a walk on the beach) experiences is that with ‘wet’ salt experiences any salt inhaled it only reaches the upper respiratory system and is typically dissolved before it reaches your throat.

The ‘dry’ salt experience with Halotherapy however reaches the deepest tissue of the whole respiratory system deep into sinus, alveoli and bronchial pathways, where it is needed.

Apart from not wanting to disturb you or others in the salt room the concentration of salt is high and we cannot guarantee that technology devices would not be adversely affected this.

Benefits are cumulative – 1-3 sessions per week is routine in order to detox, promote respiratory hygiene and wellness.

We will provide disposable tissues in our salt room for you to sneeze and or cough into and to dispose of in our bins – coughing is quite routine in a salt room due to mucous loosening however if you have any concerns please speak to a member of the team who will help.
