Halotherapy or dry salt therapy is an ancient natural therapy using a halogenerator to crush pharmaceutical grade sodium chloride (salt) into micro particles that are dispersed into a salt room by way of a dry salt aerosol to treat a variety of conditions and ideal for all clients.
These organic micro particles are absorbed deep into your respiratory system and penetrate the skin and strengthens mucous membranes to promote natural healing and relaxation whilst maintaining anti bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties.
This natural therapy can provide relief for respiratory illness, bolstering the immune system, improving skin conditions and overall systemic well-being.

Salt is anti-microbial, anti-fungal and anti-bacterial and anti-viral. The salt room will be filled with microscopic salt, which creates a virtually sterile environment. In addition, after a session, most State-of-the-Art Halogenerators vent the out the air.
The microclimate is 3 times cleaner in the Halotherapy room than in a sterile surgery room in a hospital, therefore, it is almost impossible to catch an infection during the session. A stable hypoallergenic, hypo bacterial environment is maintained in the therapeutic room.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are very minimal and transient.
You may experience a slight tickle in your throat or sinuses and some sinus drainage as the mucus breaks up – this will pass.
You may experience some minor skin irritation, skin tingling / itching as circulation is brought to the surface.
For those of you experiencing a slight cough, this is a sign that the salt therapy is effectively moving the impurities through the cilia. ​Some patients with hypersensitive skin may experience mild skin irritation.

What is a Halogenerator?

A Halogenerator is a device that is used to grind medical grade salt particles upto 5 microns in size that can penetrate deep into the respiratory system and skin.
The difference between ‘dry’ (Halotherapy) and ‘wet’ salt (a walk on the beach) experiences is that with ‘wet’ salt experiences any salt inhaled it only reaches the upper respiratory system and is typically dissolved before it reaches your throat.
The ‘dry’ salt experience with Halotherapy however reaches the deepest tissue of the whole respiratory system deep into sinus, alveoli and bronchial pathways, where it is needed.

What happens before a session?

We advise and respectfully request you arrive 10 minutes before your session so as we may prepare you – temperature check, hygienic hair net and shoe covers!
All electronic devices will need to be turned off and placed in a locker provided. Your coat or bag can go here to.
The salt room is a phone free zone – your relaxation, tech detox and well-being is our priority.
Apart from not wanting to disturb you or others in the salt room the concentration of salt is high and we cannot guarantee that technology devices would not be adversely affected this.
We have onsite toilets for use preferably before and after your session.

What do I need to wear?

What ever you are comfortable in.
We advise comfortable layers.
Please be mindful that the room will have a high level of salt and therefore you will attract salt particles that will need to be brushed off after.
We will provide you with disposable shoe covers and a hairnet to wear during the session.
Fresh blankets will be made available also.

Benefits are cumulative – 1-3 sessions per week is routine in order to detox, promote respiratory hygiene and wellness.
This will vary from person to person and there is no one global answer. Typically you will be the judge of its benefits to you.

We would respectfully ask that you do not attend if you are COVID-19 symptomatic, have a high temperature and / or feeling unwell in any way.

What are you COVID 19 hygiene measures?

We continue to monitor our COVID-19 procedures and take Public Health England advice.
We politely request you wear a facemask / covering upon entering and leaving the building which can be removed once in the salt room.
The salt room will be cleaned and sanitized after every session.
We will have hand sanitisers available for your use upon your arrival.
You will be provided disposable shoes and a hairnet to wear in our saltroom.
We will provide disposable tissues in our salt room for you to sneeze and or cough into and to dispose of in our bins – coughing is quite routine in a salt room due to mucous loosening however if you have any concerns please speak to a member of the team who will help.
